Snow 12/29/09

I got home from work Monday at 5pm, took a shower, had a cocktail and ate dinner. At 7:00 my pager goes off, so I have to go in to work. The city of Sherwood, City Hall/Library building has a boiler that is down. So after a full day at work I head in. I worked on that boiler all night and got home at 4 in the morning. I then woke up at 7 and went into the office to ensure parts were ordered, then back home, where I slept until 3pm. Trudy was at the movies with the kids (so I could sleep). I hadn't looked outside until she called and woke me to let me know it was snowing.
We were in a small cold snap, but were expecting to have rain by this afternoon. Guess what, the weather people never predicted it and we got 3-4" of snow. Par for the course and NW snowstorms, They predict it it doesn't happen. They miss it and we get snowed in, go figure. Basically causing gridlock until almost midnight tonight on some freeways. Luckily the temps are going up and the snow should be melted by morning.
It is days like this I am glad we got rid of the mini-van, and got the Durango for Trudy. She called and I told her how to switch to four wheel lock. She made it home without any trouble, can't say the same for many other people.

Yes, I do realize the layout is not conducive to displaying large pictures. I am working on it. So please bear with me during this transition.

Merry Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009 has passed, with some relief. This was a strange Christmas season, with Trudy's Aunt Bonnie having a stroke shortly after Thanksgiving, and my sister Angela having her medical problems from her May 2007 car accident.
At the immediate home-front, we are healthy (some of us with more weight to be healthy lately).
Santa came and delivered his gifts of which we (mom and dad) were made aware of at 5am. Taylor got the bike she asked for, Tyler received his Wii game system, and Travis got his i-Touch. Mom and Dad filled in the rest with games to compliment the new game system, and gift cards to fill up the i-touch features. Taylor is still young enough that her presents pretty much cover every facet of being six years old.
Trudy and I kept gifts to each other to the bare minimum which in some respects was really nice. We did however avoid the wonderful weather of last winter
We were treated to sunny skies with temps in the mid 30's, but did have to deal with a cold wind from the east. All in all a very Merry Christmas, and looking forward to a great and hopefully more prosperous New Year.
